What is Cyber Essentials?
Cyber Essentials is a cyber security scheme that outlines baseline security controls a company should have in place to keep their data secure, and was put together by government (National Cyber Security Centre [NCSC] - part of GCHQ) and industry.
Certification against these baseline controls provides a respected standard in cyber security

If so, since 01 October 2014, the UK Government requires IT suppliers to comply with the Cyber Essentials five security controls. This applies to all suppliers bidding for government contracts that involve handling sensitive and personal information.
